Once a thriving roman city, the ancient city of Pompeii is nowadays an archaeological site, where visitors can explore its excavated ruins.

Our tours will take you deep into the town where you will be able to come back to the past; here you can imagine the ancient life with its artisans, street traders and slaves.

An Ancient Path: Naples to Pompeii

Situated only 14 miles southeast of Naples, at the south-eastern base of Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii was destroyed, together with Herculaneum, Stabiae, Torre Annunziata and other communities, by the violent eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79A.D.

The circumstances of their destruction preserved their remains as a unique document of Greco-Roman life. Pompeii, Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata were collectively designated a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE site in 1997. The modern town of Pompeii lies to the east of the volcano and has nowadays a pilgrimage centre called Basilica of Santa Maria del Rosario.

As prosperous touristic town, Pompeii is also famous for its food. If you choose to visit Pompeii excavations site for a day trip you cannot lose the opportunity to enjoy the special food which is possible to taste in one of its restaurants. Ancestor of a long tradition, common food that people ate in Pompeii were grains and breads, cheeses, fish, grapes, ham etc.

With many bakeries in Pompeii, bread was the main food. In fact, a classic dish of Pompeii was bread topped with soft cheese and bay leaves. In Pompeii it was also made prosciutto, a famous Italian meat still well-known nowadays.

Our Tours

Amalfi Luxury Tour has two types of tours to let you visit Pompeii; four regular tours by car and five semi-private tours.

In regard to the regular tours we ensure a roundtrip with transportation to the meeting point, commentary on board and multi - language speaking driver; Pompeii and Amalfi coast, Pompei, Sorrento & Positano, Pompeii, Pompeii, Herculaneum & Vesuvius.

As Semi-private tours, instead, we have Pompeii which includes a roundtrip transport from the meeting point in Naples, commentary on board, archeo - guides or audio guides and bottled water. Amalfi coast & Pompeii includes also lunch, Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius includes Pizza lunch, Capri island & Pompeii includes hydrofoil tickets, Pompeii & Mt. Vesuvius have wine tasting plus lunch included.

Amalfi Luxury tour has also a special tour; for people passionate about discovering places from a higher perspective we recommend our helicopter tour, with the possibility to overfly Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii.

All the tours will last between 7 and 9 hours, with the only exception of Pompeii tour which will take 3 hours. The helicopter tour will take around 40 minutes and includes a welcoming drink and English commentary. Visiting Pompeii means jumping into the Roman age.
