Caserta

Caserta, with its magic and exhilarating atmosphere, surprises the visitor flaunting its evidences of art, history and nature. Lying on the slopes of the Matese mountains, among orchards, vineyards and olive groves, whose abundance was already appreciated by the ancient Romans, Caserta proudly shows its ancient magnificence through the art pieces, stuccos, bas-reliefs, frescos, sculptures and decorated floors of its royal palace, the Reggia di Caserta. An excellent triumph of the Italian Baroque, the palace has been inserted as one of the 53 Italian UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997.
